THE National Electrical and Communications Association (NECA) recently celebrated the industry’s brightest sparks at the annual WA Excellence and Apprentice Awards.
The event at Crown Perth, which 550 people attended including East Metropolitan MLC Samantha Rowe and Joondalup MLA Emily Hamilton, recognised in 17 categories the achievements of companies responsible for the electrical construction of some of the state’s highest profile projects and top performing apprentices.
“The entire electrical and communications industry can be proud of the innovation and excellence it brings to projects big and small, such as Perth Stadium, Wheatstone and the Intercontinental Hotel which are genuinely world class,” NECA WA president Jack Grego said.
“It’s easy, but very short sighted, in difficult economic times to drop your commitment to training but this will have a huge impact on the future viability of the electrical industry.
“The quality of the apprentices nominated this evening shows that our industry is continuing its proud history of providing high quality apprentice training that will provide the trade with a continued supply of quality tradesmen in the future.”
