On days like today all you want to do is get home and hop into the pool, maybe with a cool drink in hand. Finally kicking back in the refreshing water seems like the only way to escape the punishing heat in summer.
But while it’s cooling you down, those hot temperatures are also causing hidden dangers in your pool or spa.
Extra vigilance is required in hot weather to stop your pool becoming a home of water-borne diseases.
When it’s hot you use your pool more often and this increased use means more contaminants such as sweat, oils, sunscreen and other bacteria introduced to the pool from your body. Increasing levels of UV radiation from the sun also destroys your pool’s chlorine, removing its defence against bacteria, and warm temperatures encourage the growth of algae.
It is important to maintain a regular pool maintenance regimen in order to prevent you or your family from getting sick.
Then you can relax and stay cool!
